For me the experience began the tuesday before the show, the sun was shining and the ground was dry ! We decided the time was right to cut the Grass on our trade stand, needless to say i loaded a Weibang WB450 an ideal mower for the task, when i arrived at Montpellier's farm i met a chap called Will King he was marking out plots and took me straight to ours, i quickly set to and filled the mower with petrol and checked the oil, by then there where a few people watching so i felt the mower could not let me down and it didn't starting first pull within minutes i had finished and collected 3 boxes full of clippings, i stood back and everything pointed towards it being a spectacular day for the show stopper......
Then the rain came that evening and for the rest of the week, on the saturday i went back to see if the grass needed another trim. When i arrived, there was a fair amount of mud and i could not take the vehicle on at that point.
Feeling a challenge was on our hands we set off at 5am the morning of the show, again the sun was shining and it looked like it could be a fantastic day, we loaded 21 mowers arriving back at the show ground with the 4wd at about 7am, we where told to wait for a tractor to tow us on !! after a few minutes a Valtra tractor arrived and there was no rain to be seen we got to our plot without too much difficulty and began to set up, no sooner had we done so, the rain fell from the sky all day without a moment of rest until we packed away at 5pm. I am sure it will go down as a more memorable year for the show, just goes to show you can never rely on the English weather to do what you want.
